Brian Adkison sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape
A Columbia man who was convicted of forcible rape was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday in Boone County Circuit Court.
A Boone County jury convicted Brian Adkison of forcible rape in July. The jury acquitted him on a charge of deviate sexual assault. After the trial, Adkison called the ABC 17 newsroom from jail, telling reporter Lucas Geisler that he is innocent.
Adkison is still charged in northwest Missouri with kidnapping and domestic assault, both felonies. His case there ended in a mistrial this summer.
Adkison led authorities on a massive manhunt near the Lake of the Ozarks in 2013, before being captured in Morgan County. He then allegedly broke out of the Caldwell County Jail in Kingston, before being caught in Ohio.
