Court reverses Sheriff Dixon case ruling

In a ruling by Cole County Judge Jon Beetem Thursday night, the Missouri Department of Public Safety’s decision to revoke Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon’s peace officer license is reversed.

The 28-page ruling from Judge Beetem says Sheriff Dixon did not receive a fair trial. The judge cited several irregularities including DPS’s releasing a statement to the news media about the sheriff’s revocation before the sheriff had even received the final opinion.

Judge Beetem reversed the Department of Public Safety’s decision and ordered the Administrative Hearing Commission to rehear the case for a “cause” determination.
