Burglary suspect at large after burglarizing tire business
A burglary suspect is at large in Columbia early Thursday morning after officers responded to a burglary alarm at Plaza Tire Service around 4 a.m.
The suspect broke in through a window and stole two tires and an unknown amount of cash. Police have since found the two tires and returned them to the store.
Police then used a K-9 unit to search a wooded area along Bernadette Drive. They did not catch the suspect.
The search was on North of the Columbia Mall along Bernadette Drive and I-70 Drive Southwest. Officials saw someone run from a car, but it’s unclear if this is connected.
A manager at the business told ABC 17 police found stolen tires in a car. He also said they’ve never had a burglary before.
We’re told Plaza Tire Service will fix the window and open for regular business this morning.
Officers have cleared the scene and detective are taking over.
The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
