Man charged for smuggling drugs inside his body into jail

A Holts Summit man arrested in August for having drugs in his apartment is now facing charges for bringing them into jail.

26-year-old Patrick Murphy was arrested on August 27 after members of the MUSTANG Drug Task Force searched his home on North Star Drive.

Murphy was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and was advised that if he brought any drugs into jail, it would result in an additional felony charge.

Murphy was searched upon coming into the jail. An officer found a clear, plastic bag containing cocaine protruding from his rectum.

Murphy was charged with possession or attempt to distribute a controlled substance at a correctional facility.
