Trial for man accused of Jefferson City arson continues

The trial for a Jefferson City man accused of arson continued in Cole County Friday.

Kurt Steidley is charged with 2nd degree arson for allegedly setting fire to Everhart’s sporting goods on New Year’s Day 2011.

A jury found Steidley guilty early last year, but the judge granted a new trial after a complication.

Members of the jury began hearing testimony earlier this week.

Witnesses for the prosecution were called to the stand Friday.

Most of them were from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Our crews have heard the case is not likely to wrap up until Monday or Tuesday.
