UPDATE: Woman stable after water rescue in south Columbia

A woman is stable tonight after emergency crews had to rescue her from a pond in south Columbia.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews were called to the Hunt Ridge Place Apartments in the 2800 block of Clover Way.

Multiple boats were in the area.

Stephen Potter with the Columbia Fire Department said a female who appeared to be in her 40’s was in a pond.

Potter said three people were trying to rescue her as crews arrived on scene.

Crews were able to pull her out of the water and perform CPR. She was then taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

ABC 17 News checked with Potter Wednesday who confirmed the woman remains in the hospital. Potter said she is stable.

No one else was injured in the incident. It’s still unclear why the woman was in the pond.
