Two reports of sexual assault in downtown Columbia

Early Saturday morning, Columbia Police received two separate reports of sexual assault.

The first alleged assault happened inside the Eighth and Cherry Street Parking garage just before 2 a.m. An 18-year-old woman was walking to her car parked inside the garage when she said she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man. She reported she was sexually assaulted inside the garage.

The second incident happened just before 3 a.m. A 22-year-old woman said she accepted a ride from an unknown man near Hitt Street and Broadway. The man allegedly drove her to the area of Williams Street and University Avenue where he sexually assault her and then kicked her out of the car.

The Criminal Investigations Division is working the reported cases. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call CPD or CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
