Severe Threat Friday Evening

Friday afternoon and evening will bring a threat for all modes of severe weather to Mid-Missouri counties mainly north of I-70. Columbia and Jefferson City area under Marginal risk for Friday, while our northwest Mid-Missouri counties have the greatest chance to see storms with 60 mph winds and hail over 1″ in diameter. Storms look to get going by 3PM near HWY 24, tracking south near I-70 between 7 and 8PM. At this time, instability and shear will be present. Instability will weaken overnight, while shear looks to be present overnight through Saturday morning. We’ll watch for storms weakening through Saturday morning while gusty winds can’t be ruled out. Heaviest rainfall looks to occur between 8 and 10PM over counties near HWY 24 and north. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on twitter.
