Cole Co. rolls out new drug take-back system

New EPA regulations are forcing counties to remove prescription drop-off bins, and the Cole County Sheriff’s Office is now using a different option.

Saturday marks the first drug take back in Cole County in partnership with Act Missouri.

They’re using special bags that destroy medication when mixed with water.

Sheriff’s employees are collecting old or unwanted medicine from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The goal is to keep pills out of the wrong hands, or the public water supply.
