Man pleads guilty to robbing local bank, 11 other businesses with BB gun

An Arkansas man is now heading to federal prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to a dozen armed robberies, including a Mid-Missouri bank in 2013.

Timothy Hoyt admitted to the hold-up in Blackwater, about 25 minutes west of Boonville in Cooper County.

Court records show Hoyt walked out of Alliant Bank with $5,123, on June 26, 2013, which started his crime spree. Investigators say he then went on to rob 11 other businesses across several states that summer.

That includes two Subway restaurants in Nixa and Joplin, a Sally Beauty Supply in Raymore, Mo., a Subway in Wellington, Kan., a Domino’s Pizza and Subway in Sioux Falls, Godfather’s Pizza in Omaha, Neb., an Arby’s in Tulsa, Okla., Papa Murphy’s in Sioux City, Iowa, and Payless Shoes in Kansas City, Kan. He was arrested after robbing a Papa Murphy’s Pizza in Altoona, Iowa, on August 7, 2013.

Hoyt told law enforcement he stole the weapon from a Wal-Mart near Blackwater, which turned out to be a BB gun.

He could get as many as 20 years behind bars, but a sentencing date has not been set.
