Two injured in car crash near Boone Hospital

Two people were hurt in a rollover crash near Boone Hospital in Columbia early Tuesday.

The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Broadway near Ann Street.

20-year-old Deven Larry was driving eastbound on Broadway and lost control of the car.

According to police, the car skidded into the opposite lane and hit a light pole.

Columbia firefighters who responded to the scene had to cut Larry and his passenger Daryl Richardson out of the car.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Crews with Columbia Water and Light were also called to the scene because of the damage to the light pole.

Police closed the affected section of Broadway for a short time while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

According to police, alcohol and speed played a role in the crash.

Neither of the passengers were wearing seat belts.

Charges are pending. Stay with ABC17 News for the latest information.
