Chick-fil-A opening in Columbia, 90 jobs created

Columbia’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant is slated to open on September 16, creating 90 new jobs.

The new restaurant will open at 305 N. Stadium Blvd., where the former Macaroni Grill used to sit.

To celebrate the opening, the company will give away free meals for a year to the first 100 people in line for the opening Wednesday at 6:30 a.m.

If more than 100 people are outside when the line officially forms at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, then all 100 spots will be determined by a drawing held that morning with those selected needing to camp out for 24 hours to secure their spot.

The owner is also collecting new children’s books at the grand opening through Sept. 18 to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia.
