Man arrested for stealing golf cart at the Lake

The Camden County sheriff’s office confirmed a shirtless man from Texas was arrested over the weekend, accused of stealing a golf cart while drunk at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Dana Stewart, 37, from Plano, Texas, flagged down deputies Friday in the 200 block of Bittersweet Road in Lake Ozark. They claim Stewart was shirtless, had difficulty standing and was slurring his speech.

Stewart claimed that someone was trying to hit him. A homeowner told investigators he saw Stewart driving around a golf cart that was taken from a neighbor right before talking to deputies.

Stewart was taken into custody for DWI, second-degree burglary, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

He posted a $1,000 bond and is due to appear in court September 22.
