Rainfall Outlook For Last Days of August and Beginning of September

For the month of August, the average amount of precipitation for Mid-Missouri is 4.36 inches. So far in August, Columbia Regional Airport has received 3.11 inches, putting us below average in rainfall. Although we still have about a week left of this month, the Climate Prediction Center predicts that we will receive a below average amount of precipitation for the last days of August and first few days of September.

Looking at the year as a whole, however, we are slightly above normal in precipitation, as we have received 31.93 inches since January 1st, with the average amount being 28.62 inches. This is a bit of a change from last year, where we were actually below average in precipitation amounts by this time.
