Much cooler, wet weather Wednesday
A strong cold front will move through Missouri by daybreak Wednesday, followed by unseasonably cool air. Temperatures will start off near 60 and only reach near 70 in the afternoon as skies remain mostly cloudy. The coolest high temperature for August 19th since 1890 in Columbia is 67 in 1963. Wednesday’s high will only reach 69.
Rain will develop by early morning at the Lake of the Ozarks and spread north through early afternoon, gradually shifting east, ending by early evening. Areas south of I-70 have the best chance of rain with some showers possible north. As skies clear Wednesday night, temperatures will drop into the low to mid 50s by early Thursday morning, the coolest since the start of June.
