Union: A.P. Green lockout is over
The Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers Union said a lockout involving three Mid-Missouri A.P. Green plants is over, after members of Local 790 voted Monday morning to ratify a deal.
USW spokeswoman Lynne Hancock told ABC 17 News there was a union meeting Monday morning, and that 91 of the 93 affected employees attended. She says the deal passed by a “significant margin”. On Friday, Hancock believed the total number was 95.
Hancock said workers at the three plants will return to work Monday evening. The three plants are the A.P. Green rotary kiln and brick plants in Fulton, and the machine shop in Audrain County.
Hancock said the lockout began Thursday evening at about 8. ABC 17 News has left a message for the A.P. Green plant manager in Fulton, and we’re waiting to hear back.
