Two suspects in custody after shooting at Millersburg autobody shop

Two suspects are in custody after a shooting at a Millersburg autobody shop Thursday.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane tells ABC 17 News one person was shot at RC Autobody shop near the Boone and Callaway County line. The victim is recovering at University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Crane says two suspects were driving a stolen car from Kansas City when they crashed it along I-70. He says the suspects then went into the autobody shop, demanded a car, and shot one person in the leg.

Our ABC 17 News reporter says officers were searching a gunsmith service store next door to the RC Autobody shop. Police say an employee of the gun shop realized what happened at the business next door and collected evidence to to take back to his store for safekeeping. Authorities say he immediately gave those to police, although they would not release what evidence he collected.

The suspects then left the autobody shop in a customer’s vehicle. Sheriff Crane tells ABC 17 News he’s been notified that the suspects were arrested in Hickory County around 3:30 p.m. after a pursuit involving multiple agencies.

Sheriff Crane says he is sending an investigator to Hickory County to process the suspect vehicle.

“There will be a magnitude of charges ranging from felony assault, stealing a motor vehicle, robbery. Just a whole gamut of charges,” said Lt. Clay Chism. “Not to mention they’ll have multiple charges in various counties around the Lake of the Ozarks from the police chase in that area.”
