Police make arrest in June robbery at Columbia convenience store

Police say they have made an arrest in connection with a robbery at a Columbia convenience store.

It happened back on June 28at the Midwest Petroleum on South Providence.

Authorities say detectives were patrolling the area of Grand Avenue and West Business Loop 70 when they saw a male subject matching the description of a robbery suspect.They then made contact with and arrested 42-year-oldWillie Earl Greenwho had been identified as the suspect in the Midwest Petroleum robbery.

Green was additionally identified as a suspect in the following burglaries:

6/21/15 at 11:50 P.M. at 1907 North Providence, Itchy’s Stop and Scratch Antique Shop wherein U.S. currency was stolen.

7/21/15 at 11:30 P.M. at 802 E. Business Loop 70, Tiger Town Treasures wherein a pocket knife and tools were stolen.

Green was arrested for robbery in the first degree and two counts of felony burglary in the second degree. He remained in the Boone County Jail as of Wednesday morning.
