Two women charged with robbery in Jefferson City Hy-Vee shooting

Two women accused in a Monday afternoon shooting in Jefferson City are charged with second degree robbery.

19-year-old Tra’Nae Williams and 19-year-old Kinyana Mathews, both of Callaway County, turned themselves in after the shooting at Hy-Vee on West Truman Blvd.

A 22-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to court documents, the victim apparently told investigators she planned to meet Williams and Mathews in the Hy-Vee parking lot to sell marijuana in exchange for $140.

The victim said during the transaction, Matthews grabbed the pot out of her hand, and the victim felt that she was being ripped off.

The victim then grabbed a handgun from her driver’s side door before a struggle began between all three women.

All three women had their hands on the gun when it discharged toward the victim.

The victim said Mathews and Williams then left the scene in a silver or gray vehicle.
