Man in the hospital for multiple gunshot wounds

A man was hospitalized following a shooting early Sunday morning in Jefferson City.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Office said the man was transported to University Hospital for surgery. He is in serious condition after being shot multiple times.

Emergency crews responded to a shots fired called in the 3700 Block of Randall Drive in Cole County.

Authorities took two people into custody and recovered several guns and drugs.

Deputies said it happened in the middle of the street, but it’s not clear what exactly led to the shooting.

On Monday, police said the victim was not able to give a statement yet.

Kevin White was arrested as the alleged shooter, and Sarah Rujawitz was arrested facing drug charges.

“We executed those search warrants with the help of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Jefferson City Police Department into apartment C and D. We found pieces of evidence relating to those crimes in those apartments, and we were able to take those two into custody without incident,” said Lt. Gary Hill with the Cole Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

Kevin White has previously been in trouble for allegedly misusing a gun.
