Hot & humid weather Friday, dangerous heat indices

Hot, humid air will move over Mid-Missouri Friday causing temperatures to jump into the lower 90s in the afternoon. The humidity combined with the hot temperatures will cause heat indices to climb as high as 107 near HWY 65 to near 100 farther east.

A Heat Advisory begins at 11 AM and continues until 9 PM in Benton, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Pettis and Saline counties. The afternoon heat index will reach 103 to 107 in the advised area.

The hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside and reschedule strenuous activities to early morning if possible. Drink plenty of water and wear light weight and loose fitting clothing.
