Preparations underway for Boone Co. Fair
Preparations are underway for what’s likely the last Boone Co. Fair at its current location.
Organizers confirmed Monday that inspections haven’t happened yet, but they’re expected before everything opens Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
Voters rejected a tax increase last August that would have helped maintain the property.
Boone County officials said they don’t have the money to keep the fairgrounds running.
It’s been held off Highway 63 just north of Columbia since 1992.
Leaders said they expected to get anywhere from 12,000 to 15,000 visitors between Tuesday and Sunday.
