Two with active warrants picked up from Cole Co. Jail by Texas Rangers

Police in Jefferson City arrested two people Wednesday believed to be connected to a murder in Texas.

On Thursday, Texas Rangers picked up the two suspects at the Cole County Jail.

Jefferson City Police Captain Doug Shoemaker said officers received information earlier this week that Kenneth Williams, 33, traveled to Jefferson City from Chambers County, just east of Houston. Williams, along with 22-year-old Alexandria Barnes, are both suspects in a June 14 homicide of April Forney, whose body was found in a wildlife area.

Capt. Shoemaker said in a news release that officers found two people matching Williams’ and Barnes’ descriptions on the 3400 block of North Ten Mile Drive. After setting up surveillance to confirm their identities, police, alongside Community Action Team members, arrested the two “without incident” Wednesday night.

Williams is wanted for murder, while Barnes’ warrant relates to Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution.
