Salute to America celebration kicks off in Jefferson City
The two-day Salute to America celebration kicks off Friday in Jefferson City.
Everything begins on the Capitol Main Stage at 1:00 p.m. with the 100 year anniversary time capsule ceremony. Governor Nixon will announce the items that will be included in a new 2015 time capsule.
Live entertainment starts and the food vendors will begin serving at 4:00 p.m. on High Street.
There will be 6 stages with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday.
The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. starting at High Street and ending on Jefferson. Following the parade, the Little Mr. and Miss Independence contest starts at 7:00 at Madison and High.
ABC 17 News will introduce Friday evening’s entertainment, All My Rowdy Friends, on the Capitol Main Stage at 8:30 p.m.
Visitors can also go on prison ghost tours from 8-11 p.m.
On Saturday, live entertainment and food vendors open at 11:00 a.m.
The pre-fireworks celebration show will begin at 7:00 p.m. on the Capitol Main Stage with a live eagle show. ABC 17 News will present the headliner, Kevin Chalfant’s Journey Experience at 7:30 p.m.
Missouri Credit Union’s Red, White, & Boom fireworks show is scheduled to start at dusk and will be broadcast live on FOX 22, KQFX Saturday evening.
