Lake-area man sentenced for selling 800 lbs of fake pot

A 36-year-old Missouri man faces six years in federal prison for distributing more than $1.2 million worth of synthetic marijuana. The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri says Stephen Brian Reynolds of Camdenton was sentenced Monday in Springfield.

Reynolds, owner of Lucky’s Novelties in Lebanon, pleaded guilty last August to participating in a conspiracy to commit mail fraud and one count of money laundering.

His brother, 33-year-old Eric Scott Reynolds, of Lebanon, has also pleaded guilty in the case and is awaiting sentencing.

Prosecutors say that from March 2011 until they were charged in December 2012, the brothers distributed about 373 kilograms – more than 800 pounds – of synthetic marijuana. Their plea agreements also require them to forfeit about $1.2 million plus real estate, vehicles and firearms.
