Governor Nixon declares state of emergency in response to flooding

Governor Nixon Thursday declared a state of emergency as heavy rain and flooding continue to impact parts of the state.

Dozens of roads were closed and at least one person drowned this week due to flooding.

The Missouri River is at moderate flood stage through most of Mid-Missouri, and several small streams and rivers are expected to hit major flood stage.

The State Emergency Operations Center has been monitoring the weather constantly, assessing the current weather situation and address local needs.

Officials urge residents in flood-affected areas to stay alert of weather warnings and not drive through flooded roads.
