Weekend Storm Chances

A stationary front across Missouri will continue to bring in spotty thunderstorms Friday evening. This front will lift northward as a warm front Saturday. As it does thunderstorms will develop for Saturday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening north of I-70, but become spotty in other areas.

There is a risk for strong storms to develop Saturday afternoon and evening with gusty winds and small hail possible. Heavy downpours with these storms will also be a concern.

The front will hover in northern Missouri as the system pulls to the east on Sunday. Storm chances will increase through the day Sunday with rain likely in northern Mid-Missouri by Sunday evening.

A few strong storms could develop again on Sunday afternoon and there is a slight risk of severe storms in far northeastern Mid-Missouri. Damaging winds and large hail will be possible Saturday afternoon, but heavy rainfall will also cause flooding risks. Heavy rainfall is expected late Sunday night and into Monday and could cause local flooding and worsen flooding from already high river levels.
