Columbia man arrested for April shooting on Demaret Drive

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday arrested a Columbia man in connection to an April shooting on Demaret Drive.

27-year-old Eddie Holmes was wanted for two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

Holmes was arrested Tuesday morning on Highview Avenue.

Two people were taken to the hospital as a result of the shooting, at least one had a gunshot wound.

Deputies said the two men drove to the Phillips 66 gas station near Interstate 70 on St. Charles Road after they were shot.

The victims said they were driving in the 700 block of Demaret Drive when Holmes shot into the vehicle they were driving.

A deputy said they did not find any bullet casings at the scene on Demaret Drive.

Holmes’ bond is set at $150,000 cash only.
