Bus driver gets lost, Columbia students dropped off 45 minutes late

Some Columbia students got home late after a substitute bus driver got lost on a summer school route Tuesday.

A viewer reached out to ABC 17 News after her children apparently did not get home on time and were taken through Centralia.

Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark told ABC 17 News the substitute driver got lost on the Two Mile Prairie route and the bus was running 45 minutes late because of it.

CPS officials sent a text to parents Tuesday afternoon, alerting them to the issue.

Baumstark said all children on the route should have arrived home by around 5:00 p.m.

Baumstark also noted CPS only has 18 more days on its contract with First Student.
