West Plains man sentenced to 15 years in prison for assault with fire poker

A West Plains man was sentenced last Thursday for assaulting three people with a fire poker.

30-year-old William Sanders pleaded guilty to the crime in August 2014.

The court granted Sanders probation, but by December he had already violated probation.

Phelps County prosecutors argued Sanders was a danger to the community at his revocation hearing, and the judge agreed, issuing him a 15 year sentence.
