River flooding continues, slowly receding this week

Periodic heavy rainfall episodes across the Missouri river basin over the past couple weeks has caused flooding. The Missouri River at Glasgow, Jefferson City and Hermann is in moderate flood stage and is in minor flood stage at Miami, Boonville, Chamois & Gasconade.

Drier weather through Wednesday will allow the river to recede, bringing it below flood stage Tuesday night at Glasgow, Wednesday morning at Boonville, Wednesday night at Jefferson City, and Thursday night at Chamois and Hermann. However, periods of thunderstorms are forecast for the upper river basin Thursday through early next week which could lead to rising river levels.
