Crews opening new Chestnut Street bridge over Hwy. 50

The new Chestnut Street overpass on Highway 50 is reopening in Jefferson City.

MoDot says traffic will start moving again by 1 Tuesday afternoon. It closed with the Jackson Street bridge back in early February.

The work is part of a larger, two-year, $20 million plan which includes a new Lafayette Street interchange. It will add another lane in each direction between Monroe Street and Clark Avenue. The project will also improve or rebuild six bridges in the same area.

Starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, crews will shutdown a section of Elm Street from Marshall to Lafayette streets, including the Greenway pedestrian trail.
