One person shot in central Columbia
Police confirmed a man was shot on Tuesday near Sexton Road and McBaine Avenue in central Columbia. Officers said there was a large disturbance in the area at around noon.

Neighbors said they heard a lot of screaming between a man and a woman. The woman knocked on the front door of a neighbor’s house, and the man came out to defend her.
Witnesses said the man came out and fired two warning shots in the air, and the man holding the shovel moved toward the other man, and then the man shot at the victim.
“He got shot in the back of the leg. He hobbled over and leaned on Justice’s car and that’s when the ambulance came,” said a witness.
The victim’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, and he was taken to a hospital.
