Scammers pretend to be Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department

The Pulaski County sheriff says someone is trying to scam people by posing as the sheriff’s department.

According to Sheriff Ron Long, the scammer or scammers call their target victims claiming an arrest warrant has been issued for that person. The victim is then supposed to make a credit card payment to avoid arrest.

Long says the scammer has been able to clone their caller ID to match the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department phone number. He adds that his department never makes phone calls to carry out arrest warrants.

If you’ve been targeted by this scam or know someone who has, call the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department at (573) 774-6196.
