Columbia man arrested for stealing scrap metal in Macon

A Columbia man was arrested Monday for stealing scrap metal in Macon.

Early Monday morning at around 2:30, Macon Police got a tip about a theft in progress near downtown.

Officers saw a suspicious car in the 200 block of Goggin St. which contained scrap metals.

Officers located 51-year-old Tommy Tolson, who was wearing all black clothing at the time.

Officers took Tolson into custody, and determined he was stealing scrap metal from the BNSF Railroad property.

Tolson was arrested for stealing, trespassing on railroad property, and driving with a revoked license.
