City leaders work to upgrade Columbia airport terminal
City leaders in Columbia are working to upgrade the terminal at the Columbia Regional Airport.
The airport advisory board met Wednesday afternoon to discuss the $30 million in federal money needed to build a brand new terminal.
They’re competing against the Kansas City International Airport which is requesting more than $1 billion.
“The engineering group Parsons-Brinkerhoff is looking at funding options, at needs the size, how many gates, all those kinds of things,” said Greg Cecil, the committee chair.
If a new terminal cannot be built, the city still wants enough money to upgrade the current one.
