Jefferson City Council approves bullet proof vests

Monday night, the Jefferson City Council approved $11,475.00 to be applied with a matching federal grant to purchase new bullet proof vests for the police department.

The total cost is just over $22,000.

The current vests are nearly five years old and out of the manufacturer warranty.

The department plans to buy about 40 vests.
