Blasting operations closing parts of Hwy. 50
Starting on Wednesday, parts of a major highway in Jefferson City will be closed 15 minutes at a time.
Blasting operations are shutting down sections of Highway 50.
The blasts will be brief, but workers need time to clear the roadway. The work will last roughly three weeks, but crews will only be out between noon and 2:30 p.m.
It is for the new Lafayette Street interchange. The larger two-year, 20-million dollar project is adding a new lane between Monroe and Clark Avenue.
It will also improve or replace six bridges in the area.
