Work begins Monday on Jefferson City airport

Work at the Jefferson City Memorial Airport gets underway starting Monday morning.

Overlay work will begin on the main runway starting at 7:00 a.m.

Officials are calling the overlay project phase 1 of planned upgrades.

ABC 17 News had first word about the upgrades earlier this month.

The work will take about 125 days, and the total project is worth $7 million.

Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed by August 29.
