Parts of Highway 50 to close in Jefferson City Monday

Jefferson City area drivers will need to be aware of Highway 50 changes through Monday night.

Police are preparing to close parts of the highway near the Chestnut Street bridge.

The work is part of a two-year project that will create a new interchange at Lafayette Street, improve 6 overpasses, and build an extra lane between Monroe and Clark.

Traffic will be down to one lane overnight, and will reopen by 9:00 Tuesday morning.

The entire project costs $20 million.
