Polling places changing for 22,000 voters in Boone Co. and Columbia

Tuesday is election day in Missouri, and ABC 17 News is covering 243 races across Mid-Missouri. Polls opened at 6:00 a.m. and will close at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Boone Co. Clerk Wendy Noren told ABC 17 News about 22,000 Boone Co. registered voters will cast ballots at a different polling place than November. About 15% voter turnout is expected in Boone Co. among 99,300 registered voters. Boone Co. has about 250 poll workers for Tuesday.

In Boone County and Columbia, voters will decide on several city seats and big issues facing the city.

Proposition 1 in Columbia asks voters to decide on at $63.1 million bond issue for Columbia Water and Light electric system improvements throughout the city.

Proposition 2 in Columbia asks voters to decide whether or not storm water rates for each parcel of developed land should be adjusted to pay for inadequate and failing storm water systems.

Several seats are up for grabs within the Columbia City Council, including the first, second, and sixth ward spots.

Seven candidates are on the ballot to replace Ginny Chadwick, who resigned in January.

Those candidates are John Clark, Clyde Ruffin, Rob Stewart, Rob Rasmussen, Jake Loft, and Dan Rader.

Chadwick was recalled and eventually resigned from her seat in January.

In the second ward, incumbent city councilman Michael Trapp faces challenger Paul Love.

In the 6th ward, incumbent Barbara Hoppe isn’t seeking re-election. Ryan Euliss faces Elizabeth Peters for the seat.

In the Columbia School Board race, incumbent school board members Christine King and Darin Preis are facing a challenge from Derek Wade, and two seats are open in that race.

In the Boone Hospital trustee race, Jerry Kennett faces Robert Doroghazi.
