Two newcomers take Jefferson City School Board seats

The votes are in and Jefferson City voters elected Pam Murray and Michael Couty to the Jefferson City School Board.

Incumbent Alan Mudd did not seeking re-election, but incumbent Joy Sweeney did.

Sweeney faced four challengers; Pam Murray, Michael Couty, Dan Renfrow and Adrian Hendricks II.

Candidates gathered for a forum at Lincoln University last month where they addressed the public on several topics. Several questions from the public touched on the overcrowding issues at East Elementary, and the issue of adding another high school.

ABC 17 in January reported about the problems at East Elementary. Parents and teachers said they thought the school board was not doing enough about the overcrowding.
