Fulton Medical Center buys mobile home park south of Columbia

A mobile home park south of Columbia that is scheduled to close will be the future home of a new hospital.

Abc 17 News talked to Fulton Medical Center, LLC. which said it purchased the property where Sunset and Ed’s Mobile Home Parks currently sit to build a $40 million hospital.

Amy Leiker with the Fulton Medical Center said an agreement could not be reached to buy the originally planned location, and the group needed to find a new location in the area.

“Out of respect for the residents living in the park, we wanted to give them as much notice and time as possible to find a new location,” Leiker said. “The owner has pledged to give residents six months to move from the park – two months more than the city’s current four-month notice requirement.”

Residents of the park do not have to pay rent or utilities until the park is set to close on October 1.
