Rainfall this March

March started off wet, with rain and snow during the first few days. As the month continued though we quickly fell behind on rainfall totals. We’ve picked up 1.54 inches of rain since March 1st, which is 1.37 inches below our average for the month. The average rainfall total for the entire month of March is 2.91 inches.

We’re also below for the year. The average rainfall seen in Columbia for late March is 6.85 inches. Since January 1st Columbia has only seen 3.89 inches, putting us at a deficit of 2.96 inches.

For the month of March we are very close to average in terms of snowfall. The average snowfall for March is 1.7 inches and Columbia has received 1.6 inches.
