Former State Senator battling cancer

Former State Senator Carl Vogel is battling cancer, according to the family.

The former Senator was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The senator’s son, Jake Vogel released this statement, “Former Senator Carl Vogel was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this month. He has started what is hopefully a long journey battling cancer and we are hopeful for a full recovery. His spirits are high and prayers are welcome.”

Senator Vogel was in office from 2002 to 2011. For much of the 90’s, he served as the area’s State Representative.

The Vogel family have been long time business owners in Jefferson City and have owned the Coca Cola distributorship for many decades.

His sister, Edith Vogel, is currently running for Jefferson City Mayor.
