Freezing rain and snow chance this week

A warm front will move in Monday night sending light rain and warmer air into Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will slowly rise after midnight as light rain increases. However, although temperatures will be warming, areas north of HWY 50 will still be below freezing as the rain moves in.

Areas with the best chance of ice accumulation through Tuesday morning are north of I-70 where a few hundredths of ice is possible before temperatures warm. The ice will be more likely in north and northeastern Missouri where there is a Winter Weather Advisory until 8 AM. Roads could be slick after midnight in areas north of I-70 before temperatures warm.

Much colder air moves in Tuesday night with temperatures falling into the upper teens, only rising into the 20s Wednesday. Another wave of low pressure will lift north of I-44 during the day Wednesday producing light snow as far north as I-70. Measurable snow is possible with up to 3″ accumulation through Wednesday evening near I-44.
