Overnight precipitation makes roads slick

Overnight freezing rain and snow made roads around Mid-Missouri slick Thursday morning. Roads were covered enough to have city plows in both Columbia and Jefferson City out to clear them.

First responders were called to an extrication accident on Highway 63 in north Columbia at around 6 a.m. A semi-truck hit the side of a car while driving on the highway. Emergency crews had to remove the driver of the car by popping off the door. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for non-serious injuries.

Several school districts decided to cancel classes because of the weather, and a few opted for a delayed start.
