Wednesday night snow and arctic air update

Light rain will spread into areas north of I-70 Wednesday evening, changing to snow as colder air moves in. A mix of rain and snow drops to near I-70 by 11 pm, changing to snow and spreading south through the overnight hours. Snow ends from west to east as the storm system departs early Thursday morning.

Temperatures quickly drop below freezing overnight with increasing northerly winds, gusting to over 20 mph at times by morning. Any precipitation that falls overnight will stick to roads in the sub-freezing temperatures, giving us a slow morning commute.

Snow amounts will be higher in northeastern Missouri with 2-4 inches and lower toward the southwest with under an inch of snow.
