New Bloomfield man arrested for allegedly attacking man with baseball bat

A Callaway County man was arrested late Monday night after apparently hitting another man in the head with a baseball bat.

Callaway County deputies responded to a home in the 1700 block of County Road 372 near New Bloomfield for a report of a disturbance with weapons.

Several people were in the home at the time of the incident.

A 62-year-old Jefferson City man was seriously injured in the attack and was stabilized by emergency responders before being taken to University Hospital.

29-year-old Kurt Catron of New Bloomfield was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault and armed criminal action.

Catron is being held in the Callaway County Jail on $30,000 cash-only bond.

The victim is currently stable but in serious condition.
