Boone Co. Sheriff asks for more DWI enforcement funds

The Boone County Sheriff’s is asking for more money so they can increase enforcement on drunk drivers.

The department is asking county commissioners for $100,000 in grants from the state.

Officials said Boone County is one of the deadliest counties in the state for drivers.

The money would go toward paying the overtime for bringing in extra alcohol enforcement deputies including sobriety checkpoints and DWI patrols.
